I’ve never ridden. Where should I start?
Choose the 2-Wheel Beginner Course for a standard motorcycle, or the 3-Wheel Beginner Course if your goal is three-wheel riding. Both include instruction and a training motorcycle. You can use the course finder above to choose a location.
Do I need a motorcycle or a permit?
For the beginner courses, a motorcycle is provided and a motorcycle permit is not required to start. The BMV test-only option has different requirements: you need riding experience, your own motorcycle, a valid driver’s license and motorcycle permit, and the required gear. Read the test requirements before booking.
What is the difference between a class and the skills test?
A beginner class teaches and practices riding skills with a RiderCoach. The BMV skills test evaluates skills you already have on your motorcycle. If you need instruction, choose a course first. Review each course’s completion and endorsement information for your situation.
How much does it cost?
The 2-wheel beginner course ranges from $150–$299 per rider, depending on the class. View the selected date for its current price. The BMV test is $75 with online pre-registration or $100 on site, card only, when space allows. Check the course details or contact us for other course prices.
What should I bring?
Plan for riding gear including a DOT-approved helmet, eye protection, full-finger gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and over-the-ankle footwear. Course-specific requirements can differ. Review your course information and registration instructions before arriving.
Can I change my date after booking?
Review the terms and rescheduling policy before registering. For help with an existing registration, contact Riders First with your course, location, and scheduled date.
