BECOME A RIDERCOACH 

To become a RiderCoach, through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculum (MSF), you must meet the following minimum requirements to apply with the State of Indiana:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.

  2. Have a motorcycle license or endorsement.

  3. Successfully completed a Basic Rider Course.

  4. Have a good driving record.

  5. Have no criminal history.

  6. Ride a registered and insured motorcycle frequently on the street.

  7. Good communication skills.

  8. A sincere desire to help others.

Please complete and return the RiderCoach Application, link below. We will forward your application to the Ride Safe Indiana BMV Coordinator. Please do not contact Ride Safe Indiana with your application. To become a RiderCoach, you must be sponsored by a provider such as Riders First Motorcycle Safety Training.

Once your application is approved, the Ride Safe Indiana Coordinator will contact you with further information. At that time, you will be entered into the next available Rider Coach Prep (RCP).

About an RCP.

  1. Successful completion of an RCP certifies you to teach the MSF Basic RiderCourse(BRC), which is a learn-to-ride program for novice riders.

  2. Locations and schedules vary, and class sizes can be as high as 12 candidates.

  3. Materials include a RiderCoach Guide, Range Cards, Rider Handbook, and other RiderCoach materials.

  4. The RCP is free to you. 

  5. Successful completion requires passing a basic skill test, knowledge test, and student teaching a Basic RiderCourse.

  6. An RCP is conducted by one or more MSF-certified RiderCoach Trainers.

Once MSF-certified for the Basic Rider Course, other opportunities are available to certify in several other MSF RiderCourses and programs.

  3. Advanced RiderCourse.

  4. Bike Bonding RiderCourses.

  5. Quality Assurance Specialist.

  6. RiderCoach Trainer Preparation Course.
